House With A Curse.

the new Coliseum

what is with bands going slower lately? when I posted the new Ceremony, I hadn't heard it yet, but I expected it to be very fast... well, those that have heard it know that I was wrong... House With A Curse has Coliseum in an overall slow down as well...

I'm not knocking this record, because it is very good, but I don't know why bands insist on slowing down... that being said, it seems as though Coliseum decided to take their best slower songs from their past and make a full album of them... again, not knocking the record, but it would be nice to stay fast as they progress in their career, kinda like Napalm Death has...

Rohnert Park.

the new Ceremony

I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but unless they completely changed their style, I would expect nothing short of a very fast, very heavy, very pissed off record

We Were Exploding Anyway.

the new 65daysofstatic

if you've never heard of 65daysofstatic, think of the sound that bands like Mono and Red Sparowes play with a heavy dose of electronics behind it...good stuff

You And Me.

Out of all the bad bands Trustkill Records have signed over the past like 8 years or so, Open Hand from California is one of the very few diamonds in the rough... bringing together indie rock, southern rock, and catchy pop sensibility makes Open Hand a very enjoyable listen

Walls.

Their pedigree is not to be fucked with, with members of Iron Lung, Cold Sweat, Negative Step, and Society of Friends in their ranks. Walls is a great mix of hardcore punk and noise rock, with angrily shouted vocals. Here is their self-titled 7".

R.I.P. Isis

I will sorely miss Isis. In case you missed it, they posted on their blog a few weeks ago that after a few shows, they're calling it a day. Even though they left a good chunk of their fans behind with Panopticon and In the Absence of Truth, Wavering Radiant is where they lost me (even though Alan included it in his top albums of 2009 list). Even still, they were one of the great bands of this generation and extremely influential. IMO, these are their three best releases:
