Ok, so here is the next cd in the instrumental improv by Causa Sui. This was just released this year and in my opinion not as good as the first one, but still a very solid album. Burn one and relax to the soothing sounds of Causa Sui.

Amnesia
"Paint It Black is the most consistent band in hardcore. They have made one thing known-they are going to give you hardcore that is melodic at times, ferocious and discordant at others and Dan Yemin's lyrics will be angry, poignant and at times, humorous and sarcastic. Most bands with this pedigree would rest on their laurels, but as Paint It Black has shown the only thing they’re going to do every time is mix it up- one minute is uncomfortable and furious, the next minute cathartic and energetic, and closing with "Bliss"-the song described by Yemin as "sounding like Fugazi having a three-way with Jawbreaker and Nirvana.'"

Completely changing gears
Ok, so this is a complete different direction than Alan's posts. This is the first of an improvisational trilogy of albums done by the Danish band Causa Sui. All three of the albums are instrumental psych rock that was only released on vinyl and limited to 500 copies. They are called Summer Sessions Volume 1-3. Enjoy Causa Sui - Summer Sessions Vol. 1.

To slow things down a little bit...
..here's some great post rock from Athens, GA. A Armada's 2008 Anam Cara EP.
"Featuring Matt Nelson and Bryant Williamson from Cinemechanica plus Josh McCauley, touring guitarist from Maserati. They play a style of music more similar to early Maserati except with a greater intensity." - Hellosirrecords.com

Planets of Old.
The new EP from Boston's Cave In. I was really surprised by how good this is. For those familiar with Cave In, I'd describe the new stuff as a faster, heavier follow up to where the band left off with Perfect Pitch Black. For those unfamiliar with Cave In, familiarize yourself because they've been at it for a long time and are a great band. One of my favorites.

Mammoth Grinder - No Results/Rage and Ruin
I've been stoked on this band for awhile, and finally saw them Wednesday night. Mammoth Grinder is a metal band from Austin, TX that blends many styles of aggressive music in a very tasteful way. Their new LP is much different than this, but it's still worth lending an ear to. Death metal, hardcore, sludge, it's all right here. Currently on tour with fellow Texans Hatred Surge.

Convicted.
Convicted. Chicago hardcore. Members of Harms Way, and much like Harms Way...Convicted is fast, hard, and real. This is everything they've put out so far that I've found- the first 2 demo songs, Unconquered, and the 2009 demo. Check 'em out. On tour now with Harms Way and others. Chicago hardcore is killing it right now.
