Louisville, KY's Breather Resist were the precursor to Young Widows... before parting ways with vocalist Steve Sindoni (who then moved on to the band Pusher), Young Widows was called Breather Resist and played a pretty unique style that involved chaotic hardcore and noise rock while mixing in some slow moody parts... here is their last release before they "broke up"

Things We Lost in the Fire/The Great Destroyer.

here are the two best releases by Duluth, MN's Low... Low play depressing, downtrodden, melodic yet minimalistic indie rock... they keep a very slow pace throughout, but delicate vocal harmonies, catchy melodies, and interesting usage of instrumentation other than guitar/bass/drums will hold your interest while the music pushes you further down into your shame spiral

I know there is a huge stigma against metalcore because of what it eventually turned into (AKA: unoriginal melodic death metal with unoriginal DUN DUN WEE breakdowns), but these albums were both ahead of their time

The God Complex.

the new album from upstate NY's Another Breath... AB play extremely good melodic hardcore, but on this album, they seemed to take themselves in a different direction lyrically... in the past, they had a lot of lyrics dealing with personal matters, but with this record, the prevaling theme is religion, seemingly going for somewhat of a concept record on God (I don't know this for a fact, but the title of the record is The God Complex, so I would assume it was intentional)... anyways, solid record for anyone into melodic hardcore

Excruciation.

xFilesx was formed in New Bedford, MA in 2000 initially as a joke band, but gained popularity rather quickly throughout their short existence... They only lasted about 3 years, but in that time, they evolved into being a pretty influential straight-edge hardcore/powerviolence band... members went on to bands such as Breathing Fire, Mind Eraser, Soul Swallower, and Wolf Whistle... this is their most popular record, but if there's enough interest (or requests), I'll gladly post the other stuff I have of theirs
