Cold Sweat.

"Hardcore was never a genre that left much room for interpretation. The bands who play it well usually play by the rules and those who would like you to believe they are breaking out of the mold, more often than not, are still playing by someone's rules. Every now and again however there comes a band so focused and hellbent on putting cracks in the foundation that their sincerity and intent cannot be questioned. Black Flag did it in the mid 1980's, bands such as Born Against and Rorschach did it in the early 1990's and Cold Sweat are the current torchbearers of this sonic nihilism. Their music is manic, mean, and above all, intense; Their live shows - a maelstrom of chaotic guitars, razor sharp percussion, and a frontman with all the characteristics and charisma of a frieght train about to swipe your head clean off; and with their songs alternating between full on thrash destruction and slow, pounding drone, all the while playing like a band of humans on fire, Cold Sweat are hardcore personified."

Seattle, WA's Cold Sweat were an intense old school hardcore punk band... angry, noisy and raw Black Flag influenced hardcore... members went on to the bands Walls and Men's Interest, among others... this file contains their demo, Blinded, and Severed Ties... FUCK THE FLOCK

Sol Eye Sea I.

Irepress are an instrumental band from MA... this stuff is excellent and creative... mixing metal, progressive rock, and indie rock with catchy melodies and heavy riffage that will maintain your interest throughout, which can be difficult for an instrumental band to do... this was the record they released this year, and its one of my favorites of 2009

Prey On Life.

Sweden's Burst had most fans gravitate to them with the album Origo, but for my money, the album released just before Origo, Prey On Life, was by far their best... Origo started them down the path of a "Cult of NeurIsis" sound, and I believe Prey On Life showed off more of their creativity, songwriting ability, and overall talent... this record is a great mixture of metal and hardcore elements, with fantastic uses of melodies and harmonies while still being intense and heavy... they are apparently playing their last show ever in Gothenburg, Sweden this Friday, which is a shame because they were a great band... RIP

The Heat Death of the Universe.

"3/5ths of the New York screamo band Saetia formed Off Minor after Saetia broke up in 1999. The line-up consists of Steve Roche on drums, Jamie Behar on guitar, and Kevin Roche on bass. Perhaps what makes Off Minor so special is how much noise they are able to get out of 3 instruments, whether it be in the form of chaos or beauty. Combining both in the same way Saetia did, Off Minor represents the true emo scene, a difficult blend of elegance and brutality that when meshed together forms something truly amazing."

Off Minor is one of the better bands of the 90s screamo style, and this is their best record....check it out

Majority Rule.

Washington, DC's Majority Rule was one of the most underrated bands in history... one of the best bands in the 90s screamo scene... dark, brooding, politically driven lyrics, intense... great, great band... here are both of their EPs.... CHECK THIS OUT

Your Treachery Will Die With You.

this is the new Dying Fetus full length... any fan of Fetus will hear the typical Fetus trademarks: low growling vocals, techy parts here and there, lots of blasts, cool and interesting grooves... but all of it is executed extremely well... you know what this is about

Illadelph Halflife.

The Roots at their finest...hip hop at its finest

btw, it still angers me that they're Jimmy Fallon's house band....sure, they're getting good exposure, but they shouldn't be associated with that hack....but I digress

The Impossible Standard.

Confines are dirty fucking hardcore from MA...raw and vicious...ex-members of Cut the Shit and current members of Failures, Social Circkle, Even Keel, and Brain Killer...one of the better demos to come out in recent years
