STOMP N' THRASH
Drive-By Bukkake win the "Best Band Name Ever" contest... they are also a fun concoction of thrash, slam death metal, and funny movie, TV, and wrestling samples... this is a live set they played on The Stress Factor, the metal show on UMass Lowell's radio station (Thursdays 6-9 PM)

New split from two Boston hardcore bands that absolutely rule. Out now on Double or Nothing.

COA
POW demo up soon for those into it.
I TRY TO CUT MY LOSS. MY LOSS IS CUTTING ME BACK.
Backtrack. NYHC. Well, Long Island to be exact, but these guys are killing it. Right now a lot of new bands are revisiting that same, solid, worth-imitating 90s NYHC sound. Unfortunately I think a lot of it sucks. The majority of it sounds forced, and artificial. I'm into this though. Backtrack 2008 5 song demo. Feel it. New 7" out on 6131 Records and they're gonna be down south and out west for most of October in support of it, so do yourself a favor and watch 'em if they come your way.

Some more shameless self-promoting
3-song cassette tape of the band I'm in... we recorded these songs with the intention of releasing a split with another band, but we decided to just release them ourselves... Mad Mike was the drummer on this recording, but he's not our current drummer

below is a short set we played at AS220 in Providence, RI with I Destroyer, Jesuscentric, and Ghosting on July 18th of this year... we were in between drummers at the time, so our friend Jimbo from the band Boarcorpse filled in for us, which was greatly appreciated
Setlist:
1. Organic Flowers
2. I Live With Kings
3. The Procession of Saints
4. Everyone Is Lying or Mending Wounds
5. The World Is Full of Magic

MEGA GRIND POST I
Portland, OR's Transient are a fantastic female-fronted and guitared (is that even a word?) grind band... I saw them when they played Boston on a recent tour with The Communion, and both bands were awesome

Extortion are from Australia, and mix in some Powerviolence with their Grind (actually, they're kinda more Powerviolence, but they're pretty awesome, so who cares?)... these Aussies are pissed and pretty craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy

Extortion's split with Agents of Abhorrence, who are also from Australia and are also very pissed off.... AoA are more on the Grind end than Extortion, but both bands are worth the listen

Swarrrm are forward thinking Grind from Japan... these guys and Antigama are pushing the boundaries of Grind

Splitter are the only band I've heard that is able to play the Nasum/Rotten Sound style of Swedish grind with the same intensity as those bands... if you miss Nasum and/or love Rotten Sound, these guys should get your attention

Step Forward.
10 song EP from one of my favorite Boston hardcore bands. They rarely play shows, so mosh in your living room. Highly recommended!

Tied to Terra we won't wash away.....
"Hailing from Boston, MA, THE ARKHAM WHITE certainly know how to create a little noise. The tracks on their debut EP, Relic Radiation must have been held up to an old, leaking barrel of latent plutonium for some length of time — the aural fracas that is found on this disc is dense, layered and pummeling. Working with a base built upon influences ranging from AT THE GATES to KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, this quintet deliver the goods with a mixture of melodic death metal, grind and noise. Tempos start and stop like the blows from a sledgehammer while distorted guitars churn and drive you further into the disc’s depths. There’s some decent texturing thrown into the caldron that makes everything seem that much more chaotic and dark."
The Arkham White are a 5-piece Boston based melodic Metal band with Black Metal overtones... I know melodic Metal has become very cliche, but these guys do it very well, and unlike most American bands playing melodic Metal, they do it without cheesy DUN DUN WEE breakdowns

Life's Trade.
The debut album from Samothrace. Four songs, about 45 minutes. Produced by Sanford Parker(recorded Modern Life is War- Witness, Pelican- Australasia, and a bunch of others). One of my favorite records from 2008.
"We came together, initially, in friendship made thru our individual involvements in the DIY Punk/Hardcore/Metal(death to false, of course) community. Hometowns spanning from New Mexico to Kansas to Oklahoma, we currently reside in Lawrence, KS. '05/'06 began the process of shaping Samothrace into our present state. Heavy music for heavy times. The lyrics, albeit poetic, are rooted in the ideals of social change, political incoherence, and a bleak but positive outlook on life... intended for those who've taken back their breath and risen on their own and those who wish to do so." - Samothrace's Myspace.
