Kiss it Goodbye are lumped into the Botch, Coalesce, Deadguy group - mainly because they had Deadguy members - but they were more bone-chillingly haunting that those bands... worth your time

I had never heard Owen Hart, Three Faces of Eve, Idiots Parade, or Superbad before listening to this, and I thought all 4 bands put forth excellent work... and Extortion, Apartment 213, and Lack of Interest brought it like they always do

what is with bands going slower lately? when I posted the new Ceremony, I hadn't heard it yet, but I expected it to be very fast... well, those that have heard it know that I was wrong... House With A Curse has Coliseum in an overall slow down as well...

I'm not knocking this record, because it is very good, but I don't know why bands insist on slowing down... that being said, it seems as though Coliseum decided to take their best slower songs from their past and make a full album of them... again, not knocking the record, but it would be nice to stay fast as they progress in their career, kinda like Napalm Death has...

I will sorely miss Isis. In case you missed it, they posted on their blog a few weeks ago that after a few shows, they're calling it a day. Even though they left a good chunk of their fans behind with Panopticon and In the Absence of Truth, Wavering Radiant is where they lost me (even though Alan included it in his top albums of 2009 list). Even still, they were one of the great bands of this generation and extremely influential. IMO, these are their three best releases:

There Were Wires was a somewhat short-lived, but extremely influential band that formed in Martha's Vineyard, MA, but eventually moved to Boston proper before they split up... at times chaotic, at other times sludgy, sometimes even ambient, TWW had a good amount of creativity for the time (late 90s - early 00s)... members went on to the bands Doomriders and Disappearer... this is there self-titled full length, which includes a live set they did on Emerson College's now-deceased Nasty Habits radio show

The Taste of Silver was a very promising band coming out of Somerville/Arlington, MA, but they suddenly broke up in 2007 while on tour... they played a sound based in the 90s screamo style, but also had grind, hardcore, death metal, and techy parts, making for a unique listening experience... I am now in multiple bands with their guitarist Faust (Heisai Yasokawa's Empty Orchestra, Fuck Everyone, Crippling Fear), their vocalist Rowan went on to do vocals for The Arkham White, and their drummer Alex currently drums for the band Parasitic Extirpation... this is one of my all time favorite local bands, so I think this deserves to be heard
