The Moon is a Dead World.

"Gospel was comprised of Adam Dooling, Sean Miller, Vincent Roseboom and Jon Pastir. Their sound mixes the atmosphere of psychedelia, structural sensibilities and instrumentation of Genesis-esque progressive-rock, and primal aggression/desperation of hardcore/screamo."

Gospel are band out of Brooklyn, and they have a rather eclectic sound... their basis is in 90s screamo, but they kinda go all over the map... they've also recently reunited and are planning on releasing a new album this year, which I'm personally really looking forward to

Slights and Abuse/The Sycophant.

Indian are a doom band based out of Chicago... this stuff is dark, haunting, and HEAVY... this was initially released as two separate LPs, but they were united into one CD... shit sounds evil

My Meds Aren't Working...

Dystopia's self-titled, final full length was released posthumously, and it is Dystopia at the top of their game... great raw, hate-fueled, politically driven (if you couldn't tell by the cover art) punk/hardcore/crust/doom... pretty vicious stuff... shame they're not around anymore

Mutation Comp.

Tracklist:

1. Garuda - Thirteen
2. The Minor Times - I Fuck For Money
3. The Minor Times - Glass Ceiling
4. The Abandoned Hearts Club - Experimenting With Maturity
5. Enkephalin - Real Deal Holyfield
6. Sea Of Thousand - Death Obsessed Til' Death
7. Tyranny Of Shaw - Grendel
8. Tyranny Of Shaw - Lost In Arcadia
9. Ed Gein - Beautiful Corpses
10. Ed Gein - The Ever So Familiar Face of the Devourer

here is a compilation Robotic Empire released back in 2003 to showcase all of the upcoming chaotic, Coalesce-influenced bands of the time... I don't think any of these bands are still around (The Minor Times and Ed Gein might be, but neither of them have released anything in a long time that I'm aware of), but there is some very solid stuff here... in fact, the only track I wasn't fond of are Garuda's and Sea of Thousand's... that being said, if you are a fan of bands that sound like Coalesce, Deadguy, Botch, etc., there is something here for you

Graveyard.

"Graveyard’s self titled debut resurrects the sounds of 70’s psychedelic rock. The clash of folk, psychedelic, and blues makes for a mind-bending trip back to the days of Cream, Sabbath, and Blue Cheer." - Tee Pee Records.
More 70s driven metal from Sweden, similar to Witchcraft. Enjoy.

Coalesce in NY.

Honorable Mentions.

This is my first post of the new year, and I decided to post 3 records that just missed the cut for my top list of 2009

Norway's Kaospilot are a fantastic 90s style screamo band... don't expect the greatness that was their self-titled record, because that record was awesome, but Shadows is still a very good record... I noticed a whole bunch of people downloaded Off Minor and Majority Rule...if you're into either of those bands and never heard Kaospilot, do yourself a favor and grab this

Agoraphobic Nosebleed's latest, and in my personal opinion, their best... there isn't much else to say other than if you're a fan of heavy music and have never heard of Agoraphobic Nosebleed, then you've been under a rock... and Scott Hull is the man

Kylesa's Static Tensions has given them a bunch of critical acclaim and has gotten them noticed big time in more than just the heavy music community, which is great for them.... but to be completely honest, I'm more of a fan of To Walk A Middle Course and Time Will Fuse Its Worth... that's not to say that this record isn't worth your time, because it is, but for some reason, those two records were more up my alley... still, this is a great album in its own right and y'all should take a listen

Witchcraft.

Awesome Sabbath/Pentagram flavored metal from Sweden that initially started as a Pentagram tribute. It rocks, it rolls. Rise Above Records.
